MEET THE FACES BEHIND ALASKA CUB

Alaska Cub wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated team of passionate aviation professionals. Each team member brings a unique blend of expertise, craftsmanship, and a shared love for aviation in Alaska.

Junior Daniel - owner of Alaska Cub

Junior Daniel – Owner / A&P IA, PPL, ASES

At the heart of our team is Junior, our owner, operational check-flight pilot, head mechanic, and Purple Heart Recipient. His personal brand is safety and it’s a value that he instills in everything we do. With thousands of hours of backcountry Alaskan aviation experience, an unwavering commitment to excellence, and impressive bank of cub knowledge Junior is the backbone of Alaska Cub.

Check out his interview with Daniel of “Airplanes in the Wild” on Youtube to learn more about him.

Kiva – General Manager / CPL, IR

Kiva is incredibly knowledgeable in all things ‘cub’, and runs our day to day operations. When she isn’t working on planes or making sure things are running smoothly she’s probably… trying to ensure things are running smoothly. As a life-long Alaskan her experiences have brought her from the sea to the air, as she grew up in Kodiak where she spent her childhood commercial fishing. During the fall she leaves us for a few months to fly for a caribou hunting transporter in the Arctic.

Jud - mechanic at Alaska Cub

Jud – Mechanic / A&P, PPL

Jud came to Alaska Cub with an incredible amount of experience in the Alaskan aviation industry. When he’s not working on planes, he is either spending time with his family, or working on his own full Aeronca Champ restoration. Jud is well rounded in all aspects of aircraft maintenance, and has beautiful fabric skills which are showcased on the 2024 Alaska Airmen Raffle Cub. If you’re looking for fabric covering advice – Jud is your guy.

Jeremiah – Mechanic / A&P

For the past three years Alaska Cub has been privileged to have Jeremiah as a team member. From building cub wings, to running the Iron Dog, Jeremiah can do it all. Jeremiah is a huge asset to not only us, but also to the Alaska Veteran Community. Through working with many organizations such as Operation Iron Warrior, Battle Dawgs Racing and Alaska Warrior Partnership Jeremiah has helped many individuals across the state of Alaska to live better lives.

Jeremiah - Master fabricator at Alaska Cub
Cody - painting technician at Alaska Cub

Cody – Mechanic / A&P

Cody grew up in Wasilla and worked with Junior to receive his A&P. Cody is knowledgeable in all aspects of aviation maintenance. Our go-to guy for all major repairs and alterations, he also is extremely well versed in Stewart Systems and makes magic with all of the paint jobs that come through the hangar – his work can be seen on the 2024 Alaska Airmen Raffle Cub. When he’s not working on cubs – he’s in his garage building his own.

Simon – Mechanic / A&P, CPL

Simon joined our team in 2024 after graduating with his A&P certificate from the School of Missionary Aviation. Simon’s aviation education brings a fresh perspective to the hangar. When he’s not working on airplanes he spends his time flying and exploring his new home of Alaska with his lovely wife Bethany.

Kinley – Mechanic / PPL

If there’s anyone who can bring sunshine to a hangar, it’s Kinley. Before joining our team, she spent her days literally backflipping off glaciers. When she’s not turning wrenches, you’ll probably spot her flying her trusty Cessna 120 across the skies, or adding a flawless coat of paint to a brand new airplane. Kinley’s blend of precision, creativity, and pure joy makes her an incredible part of our crew. Her upbeat energy lifts everyone around her, and her work ethic sets the bar sky-high.

Dan – Mechanic / PPL

Hailing from Craig, Alaska, Dan is back where he belongs — in aviation maintenance. Dan went through the UAA A&P program while finishing up his master’s in geology. On his days off from mining he’s currently trading rocks for rivets to return to his first love: airplanes. Dan’s sharp technical skills and steady, thoughtful approach make him a valued part of the team, and we’re thrilled to have him in the hangar doing what he loves most.

Eska - support pop at Alaska Cub

EskaHangar Mascot, Emotional Support Team Lead

Eska came to Alaska Cub in August of 2023 when Kiva picked her up randomly one day from the Matsu Animal Shelter. She has been the perfect addition ever since. Eska loves cub rides, remote beachcombing expeditions, and stealthily stealing AN6 nuts from you while you are working on a project.
